Katie's Bunk

Katie pushed her luggage along through the courtyard. The grass was muddy from the rain they'd gotten overnight. It made it so much harder for Katie. The mud had already taken one of Katie's Converse. Her favorite Converse. She was wearing rolled up jeans, a beige tank top with either fruit of vegetables on it, a peachy colored hoodie and yellow Converse. Well, one yellow Converse. But, Katie would not let that slow her down. At this rate, it would take her 10 minutes to get to cabin #4. Her luggage was covered in mud by now. She struggled not to drop her pillow. Her sleeping bag was strapped to the handle of her luggage.

Now, she was only a couple minutes away. But, she would have to change clothing when she got to The Demeter Cabin. Her luggage shot mud up at her pants. Her length her already covered in mud from stepping into a sinking hole. Thats where her Converse was. In the ground. Great. Katie had just kept happy thoughts. Thoughts of getting claimed. Thoughts about her mother. How she didn't have to wonder what her mother looked like. Katie made it to the Demeter Cabin.

Outside, there was flower beds, strings of flowers hanging from the roof that hung over the porch. The cabin was made of dark wood. The roof, of grass and moss. It was beautiful. There were vines climbing the cabin from a dozen places. It was amazing. Katie stacked her things against the porch wall, after struggling up the THREE stairs. She took a seat on a bench-swing off to the side of the porch. There was a nice wooden table with lawn chairs, flower boxes that hooked on the railing. It was simple, yet beautiful.

Katie pulled her luggage through the door. The scent stopped her in her tracks. It smelt like home. Grain and dirt. That scent. The was what the farm smelt like during summer. It brought back so many memories. Not all were bad. Some of them were filled of joy and cheer. But, if any included her dad, every synonom for bad could be used to describe them. Unforunately, what came to mind, was indeed her father. How could Demeter love such a abusive, evil man? Had Demeter seen the things he'd done to her? Katie was hoping she hadn't. He was a sick man. A alcoholic. He only beat Katie though. Only Katie. Was it because she was Demeter's child? Was her father still in love with Demeter? He killed Katie step-mom. Thats where Keagan, her brother and, Emmi, her sister came from. Jonah, her father, loved Keagan and Emmi. They were angels. Keagan had seen Jonah beating on Katie before. He called the police and punched Jonah. Keagan wasn't built but, he worked out. So, the punch messed up Jonah's nose.

Katie pulled herself out of her memories before she could start to cry. She brought her luggage to a bed at the very back of the cabin. The bunk was clean as could be. Katie unpacked her clothing into the chest at the end of the bunk. She slid her backpack full of food and water under her bed. Her luggage got tossed outside. Katie spread her sleeping bag over her bed like a comforter and her pillow went at the headboard. Katie grabbed some clothing and was off to the shower.

After her shower, she put on clean clothes, and sat on her bunk. She didn't know why she couldn't stop shaking. It was either the fact that, she had been claimed and was extremely happy. Or, she was cold. Katie grabbed her book, Maximum Ride Vol.5 The Manga and started to read. She was hoping someone would come see her but, she didn't think anyone even knew she was here!
